The Asticou Azalea Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine U.S.A. is not actually part of Acadia National Park. It is located at the intersection of Route 198 and Route 3. The Garden and pond are open to the public during daylight hours from May through October. We chanced upon this scenic wonder by accident this fall while meandering through the small towns and villages on Mount Desert Island. The day was about done and we do plan to travel and check out this beautiful area again in the future. During summertime it is noted for the rhododendrons and the native azaleas, and elicits the beauty and manifestations of those most exquisite oriental style gardens.
