Artist's Description

Lava Flow and Lady Pumice-Equine Portrait is a semi-abstract created by Maine artist Mike Breau.
It derives from several photos Mike took in Maine, and he combines them into a digital conglomeration with the nuances of volcanos in mind. Since everyone love horses and are enthralled by the magnificent power of volcanoes it only seemed natural to create this lovely equine portrait with horse-racing style names representing the powerful flow of the volcano, hence Lava Flow (derived from a thoroughbred); and the harsh residue that remains after the eruptions, Lady Pumice(derived from a hybrid), which by itself has sustained itself as a super-tough clean-up agent leaving most others in its wake.
Over 400 million years ago super volcanoes inhabited Maine and left behind our rough coastline that we enjoy so much today. Hawaii has of late had its own spell of volcanic activity.
It just seemed fun worthy to create a portrait representative of these grand events.
